CO2 and the 50 Caliber Revolution

Paintball tradition tells us that electropneumatic paintguns can't handle CO2, but the new generation of 50 caliber markers from G.I. Milsim is breaking out of that mold.

This old-fashioned idea has been reinforced by years of high-end electronic paintguns that couldn't cope with CO2 – not because it was impossible, but because of their specific design limitations. CO2 can wreak havoc on older electronic markers by starving them of necessary pressure when it chills from rapid firing, or causing seal-rupturing pressure spikes if liquid CO2 gets into the marker.

The G.I. Milsim design team recognized that our entry level markers must be CO2 friendly, because it is a cost effective power source for players just getting into the game. Not only did the team deliver on that goal, but their use of high-end electropneumatic technology helped make it possible.

BuyPBL videos spotlight the 50 caliber revolution.

BuyPBL and BackLine Media have been bringing detailed information about the world of paintball to players around the world through their BuyPbl.com Product Spotlight YouTube videos. A series of six new videos introduce the products that are driving the .50 caliber revolution.

In Paintball 2.0 G.I. Milsim's Richmond Italia explains the concept behind the .50 caliber revolution, also known as Paintball version 2.0 and addresses some common questions and concerns about the move to a new caliber.

Beaker's Lab : Pro Practice & Clinic

Beaker's Lab is a G.I. Milsim feature, following the paintball life of Chris Chernis

Episode 2 : Pro Practice & Clinic

Hey Guys,

So things have been going good the last few weeks.

On Saturday last weekend, I traveled with pro players Pete Utschig and Bart Blonski, (two of the greats in our sport and friends I've known a long time) to an open practice at HeadRush Paintball located in Syracuse Upstate NY.  HeadRush is an excellent facility ran by some great people. The open practice included several teams that are a part of the CXBL (Canadian Extreme Paintball League).  I got to practice with Kingston Criminal Factory, Elmira Nemesis, and Mirabel Impact.  Both Pete and Bart play for the Kingston team.

The CXBL teams gave me an opportunity to play some excellent ball, with some great players and I loved every second of it.  I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to scrimmage with them.  I think between Pete, Bart and I we probably played 50+ games that practice. It was intense old school XBall!!!  We ran breakout drills,  tried out the first event field layout and just had a great time.  When you are having a great time, working hard and seeing results that all equals a good practise, and this was a great practice!!!

On Sunday Pete, Bart and I drove to Laval Canada, (Which is about 20 minutes away from G.I. Milsim HQ in Montreal), so they could teach a clinic at Skorpion Paintball.  The clinic went great and I think everyone came out smarter and learned a lot about paintball technique, strategy and theory.  They taught an excellent clinic and I was honored to lend a helping hand for whatever they needed.

All in all, it was a great sucessful weekend and I look forward to the next opportunity I get to play with those guys.

Phoenix is coming up sooner than we think everyone!!!!  (19 days and counting).  So get back out on the field and get some work done!!    Stay Hungry!!
